No, what I mean is you didn't actually have to be LOGGED IN to post, the system let you enter your user name and password separately along with your post each and every time, which didn't count as officially logging in.

OK, that makes sense now

Thanks. These changes may be going official in a couple of days. Just for reference I do try to make things look "right" using IE, Firefox and Opera.

In the meantime I'm also working on an *actual* new feature for the forums...

Hmmm...let me guess...moderated or private forum? Based on the first post.

Although I do remember a mention of Private Messages somewhere.

Everything works good for me, and I'm glad we might see some limited moderator capabilities, although it will drive me nuts not to be in the Custom Installers Lounge because of restricted membership... pout!!! ;-)

I really hope the CI lounge won't be restricted. I've learned so much by reading it that it's unreal.

Maybe the CI lounge could be restricted posting (only CI's could post), but viewable to the rest of us.

It's only the bad apples ("bad DIY'ers") that have no respect for CI's that cause the problem.

But I won't be able to wind them up any more.

There is a handful of guys that I would not miss, but for the most part I never felt that more moderation was needed. This is still the best forum I frequent.

It is the best forum I come to as well, Anthony, but there are those who would like a bit more moderating of some of the forums, and a lot of sites do have the kind of moderating that I think RC needs.

Just a tweak here and there in a few of the forums... moving posts that belong in other forums, deleting objectionable posts that are attacks on a person rather than an actual argument about something, etc.

Even just having a moderator take the time to post in a thread about "toning things down" or something like that.

IMHO.

Don't disagree Greg. But the ability to name moderators was there with the last update. I don't have an issue with moderation, especially if it is moving threads in the wrong forum. But I have seen other sites where moderators have gone power nuts to the point where the forums went down hill.
