Could I get some of you to test out the forum using:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

There's several updates to this code...

* Users are now required to be logged in to see the new post form (unlike before where you could always enter your user name & password). This is due to an abundance of spam bots that attempt to fill out these forms with random information. They never succeed in posting, however these brute-force methods are adding up to *millions* of attempts per month, so the only thing to do is remove the temptation.

* Support for moderated forums (limited posting abilities).

* Early support for private forums (limited membership).

* Improved error messages.

* "Remember me" tickbox when logging in to remember your credentials between sessions or for that session only.

With my msntv 2 unit, if I clink a link, then move on from there to another page or site without hitting the back key. Or 5 pages or 5 forums, the first time I hit back space, I found myself back on the page where I clicked to the link. I hate that. : (

Yeah, you can't really test some of that stuff, but the main goal right now is to ensure that the changes haven't broken more important things, and that the main bits are all still functional.

I honestly don't know how many people currently actually post to the forum while not being logged in, but I hope the number is low! :-)

can you post without being logged in? I never saw any guest/anonymous posts. I thought that did not exist since 2001.

PS if it helps I use IE7 (forgot that before)

No, what I mean is you didn't actually have to be LOGGED IN to post, the system let you enter your user name and password separately along with your post each and every time, which didn't count as officially logging in.
