Sabres took the President's trophy today. Detroit is tied for points (113) but has less wins. Plus we play tomorrow (1 PM, NBC).

Today's Leafs/Habs game was important in determining who we play. I was rooting for the Habs, but to no avail. A Habs win would have had us playing Montreal in Round 1.

Now we've got to root for the Islanders. If they win, they get the 8th seat. If they lose, Toronto does. I'd hate to play Toronto. All of the home games here in Buffalo get invaded by Leafs fans every time. It'll get really nasty.

As the rest of the league goes:

Eastern Conference
New Jersey (2) vs. Tampa Bay (7)
Atlanta (3) vs. New York Rangers (6)
Ottawa (4) vs. Pittsburgh (5)

Western Conference
Detroit (1) vs. Calgary (8) Although this could change, Calgary has 96 points and Colorado 93 with 2 games left to play each.
Anaheim (2) vs. Minnesota (7)
Vancouver (3) vs. Dallas (6)
Nashville (4) vs. San Jose (5)

You still following the Sabres, Greg?

Bit of Western Conference news, Avalanche lost last night so Calgary has the 8th spot.

New York Islanders win, 3-2, in a shootout. So Buffalo plays them in Round 1.

Damn Habs... :(

Screwy game really, but man they just gave up with 12min left. Hate to say it but the Leafs deserved to win that game. At least the Islanders got the spot so I still get to hear the whiney Toronto fans. Almost as good as having them lose to the Habs in the first place. Actually it's a little better this way... Now it's the "We got screwed because Jersey didn't play Brodeur" excuse. Toronto fans are priceless...

:)

For you sake OTAHD, I hope that the Sabres either go out in the first round or win the cup. Although personally... I think seeing another Buffalo 2nd place dynasty, ala' the Bills 90-93 SuperBowls would be just as fun.

Heh...either way we can make fun of Toronto! :-)

Man, that Islanders game was intense though...came down to the shootout.

GO SABRES!

knew it came down to a shoot out, but did not see it.

As for making fun of Toronto, they seldom make it, nothing knew :)

True, they never do make it, but it's not fun when the Leafs come to Buffalo. Leafs Nation fills up about half our arena.

On to round 2! Beat the Isles 4-3 in game 5 tonight!

New Jersey is leading their series 3-2. Rangers and Senators already took their series.

Lack of heart, a terrible powerplay coach, and overall crummy play.

We're almost done.

The fat lady is warming up.

I don't like the Senators much either, more than you probably, but not by much.

Nope.

I still think whoever moves on (most likely the Sens) will have to play Detroit, and will not beat them.

I've already started thinking about next year...

They need to bulk up, lack of it killed them last year as well. The speed thing works during the season, but go to series and well you saw what happened.
