I finally looked at the preview. There were a couple of things that came to mind.

(1) The text seems too big...I like small text. It is easier to follow.

(2) The username is too small at the top of posts. Makes it harder to identify the poster. (You actually must look at it, it doesn't jump out.)

I like it otherwise. Others may differ on these opinions, it's just my opinion.

Oh, c'mon. Just thought I'd comment since I finally looked at it and figured it would be standard in a while.

Just suggustions, not complaints.

Use Firefox and reduce the text to your liking, sir!

For me, I increase it to my liking!

Kinda like the mute button - I point remote at the wife and hit mute but it doesn't seen to work.

The problem is the "old" forum style uses a mix of relative font sizes and fixed font sizes... the poster's name and what not is specified in a semi-fixed font size and appears erratically in size depending on your browser and other Windows settings.

I'm trying to switch to completely relative sizes, so that everything can be easier shrunk/enlarged by the user. Sizing stuff like this can be tricky (it's SO much easier when I just specify an exact size).

I've played around with the sizing of those items, let me know.

As for body text, it's only slightly larger than before, but it's a wider font that may "appear" bigger. But as Greg says, it's quite easy to shrink things. You're just used to websites that still specify font sizes ideal for 640x480 monitors! :-)

Couple other points... the new forum design is going live VERY soon so this is the perfect time to make comments, and with the new design it's EXTREMELY easy for me to change anything related to fonts or colors.

That's it! I shrank it to small and it was wider than normal. I guess it will just take some time to get used to.

New forum design soon! Coooooooooooooooooool!

Since I like the new design.

Plus, I'm glad that after the months and months of hard work by you, Daniel, that it will be much easier to make changes and keep it updated! You need that kind of functionality!

G. :-)

Yeah, it's not my first choice either, but I'm also slowly getting used to it. I changed to this after some complaints about how the old font was rendering in the new design (where font sizes have to be specified differently than they were before) - with a word like "willing" the "illi" rendered as a big blob that you couldn't make out individual characters. Very disappointing for a font supposedly designed for the screen.

At any rate, the new forum uses *another* popular font that always rendered legibly in my testing, at any size.

I think I'll also miss the "LCD Touchscreen Site Control."

I won't - for the simple reason that NO ONE NOTICES THAT IT EXISTS! They don't know you can "click" on the buttons in there to navigate the site. You wouldn't believe the weird emails I've gotten from people trying to navigate the site *without* using it!

Also it's a nightmare to maintain... I've got 154 different versions of that LCD graphic, due to the text title in it being hard coded.

I will too. It was cool when it came out (and it still is), but the new site is cleaner and fresher. Hmmmmmmm.... I think Daniel is kidding us about spending months and months and hundreds of thousands of keystrokes! All he did was use Febreze on the site to get that "cleaner and fresher" look!

LOL

154? Not 147? Not 169? Typical geek! ;-)
