Oh, by the way, I elected to not eat liver for 40 days!

It's easier if you don't set you goals to high!

I can't STAND liver!!! :-)
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Neither do I. Haven't eaten any for 30 years or more. I do cook some up for the dogs now and then though.

i'm a jew.... every year we laugh at catholics and their lent.

now i've got a serious question: if you give up alcohol for lent can you still take communion?

what if you're an alcoholic?

or alergic to grapes?

Nice

I dont have a good chuckle when i tuck into a bacon butty with HP sauce.
(I'm Church of England by the way and not Catholic)

From my limited Knowledge of such things isn't The equavalent period to Lent in the Jewish calendar the 30 days of the Hebrew month of Elul, followed by the ten "days of awe" that begin with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and end with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.Isnt this is a period of concentrated and contrite repentance and of special ascetic and devotional practices through which to renew and re-create our Self in dialogue with God?

Ascetism seems to be in many religions.

i laugh when you eat bacon.... my pug eats bacon and then licks his butt.

and you're probably right about all the serious religious parralellism. Jews, Catholics, Christians and Muslams pretty much have the same root beliefs, but some of the dogma and the methods of worship are different (which is cool). but i've gotta tell you... get over it. just laugh 'cause we're all clowns to somone else ok? :)
