Its a Denon 8500 AVR. I have a URC MX990, but know how to use Hex codes, but not these type whick I have a list of. Just wanted to turn into proton hex.

I am not 100% sure, but I think RCKSK0410348 is to be interpreted as follows: The protocol is (in the terminology of IrScrutinizer/Irptransmogrifier) "Denon-K", the D (device number) is 4, the S (subdevice number) is 1, then the function number F is 348 (decimal). (If you point me to the document that says "RCKSK0410348" i can probably tell you more surely). In IrScrutinizer, select the Render pane, select the Denon-K protocol, and fill in the parameters as per above. Select Options -> Output text format as Pronto Hex. Then press the Render button, and you will get

The hex you pasted works, and I was able to recreate it myself use IRS, and tested another (#337), that also works.

You mention bulk work, I can create a proto file fro, IRS, I cant see how to do this for a full code set,

@Barf - The RCKSK is the Denon 232 protocol extended command that let's one send an IR command via RS232 or TCP/IP.

RC is Remote Command, KSK is Kaseikyo. My marantz support RCRC5 as you'd likely suspect.

@kdp99 - Using IR Scrutinizer (written by none other than Barf) you can generate Pronto Hex for a range of functions. 0..998 for example. It can be a bit daunting at first but once you get used to it, it is invaluable.

You setup the export format as text with a subformat of Pronto Hex and the tool will generate all 999 commands for you. Use the Denon-K protocol with 4 for D, 1 for S, and 0..998 for F.

The link I pasted above should also give you more detail as to which functions do what in that protocol. Via a google for your command, you can likely find many more files from Denon.

The linked file is 14 years old, and pertains to an ancient model. I have actually not succeeded in locating documents for the current models. This link [Link: raw.githubusercontent.com] are the commands I use for my AVC-X4800H (love it!).

@Lyndel: The function numbers actually go to 1023 (inclusive), not 998.

The idea is that you gather all your commands in the Scrutinize remote / Parametric Remote table, then you "export" that (which we call a "remote") in any of many export formats. Does the text format do approximately what you want?

I have been using IRS in a 'belt and braces way' generate a few commands, save a proton classic file, then access this from CCP to add the commands to my MX990.

I think its time for me to play with IRS and the parametric remote !

Unfortunately, IrScrutinizer does not support CCP/MX990, as it is (primarily) a dealer-only-programmable system. No CCP/MX* user has ever told me what file format they would prefer... Kinda hard to help that community :-\

@kdp99: It is "Pronto", not "proton".

No need it can read a Proton classic file via its universal browser, and you can drag and drop the command name and hex into CCP.

I suspect URC keep the CCP file format secret.

Now I use the parametric remote 'between' generating the Hex and writing the Proton file all is very smooth, I just needed pointing in the most efficent way to use IRS which you kindly did.

Good to know. Here is how you turn my AVC-4800H commands to a Pronto Classic file: In IrScrutinizer, select Import/Girr. Paste the URL I previously posted into the File/URL text field. Press "Load File/URL". It should now show 351 commands. Press "Import all/parametric". On the popup, select Cancel (or OK, as desired). This will fill in the Parametric Remote table. Then select the Export pane (not to be confused with the Export button on the Scrutinize remote pane). Select "ProntoClassic" as export format . (The other parameters are not essential.) Press "Export param. remote". Done! This file should be 99% of what you need; certainly more relevant than the 2012 antiquity linked above.

I had most of the commands I needed as they were built into CCP. I used the much more up to date AVR 8500 document like the one linked above to identify the ones I needed, used IRS to add them to a parametric remote. I then changed the names in the parametric remote.

Then I wrote a pronto ccf file that can be read my ccp and dragged and dropped the commands (name and hex) into place.

A bit late to this one, but it'll turn up when the next person googles "Denon RCKSK to hex," so - I ended up building a little browser tool for exactly this and figured I'd leave it here.

You paste the RCKSK code (or literally the raw 0/1 rows off the Denon PDF) and it gives you plain Pronto hex - the whole set at once if you want, button names filled in - so you can drag name+hex straight into CCP. The 15-bit RCSHP ones work the same.

Not just Denon either - it does NEC, Sony, RC5/RC6, Panasonic, JVC, RCA, reads and writes about a dozen formats, and it'll take a raw capture and tell you the protocol + device/command and rebuild it clean. Honestly I just got tired of firing up IrScrutinizer for one-offs - no install, no Java, paste in a browser. (IRS is still the gold standard for bulk/parametric work - Barf's stuff is untouchable - this is just the quick-and-dirty version.)
