Sorry for the newbie question, but this seems like the place to ask. I am programming my first URC and its going fairly well except for missing some discrete codes for an Infocus projector.  The projector is a 3904.  I have a document from Infocus with IR codes, but I'm not sure how to convert to HEX needed to program.  Can anyone help me with this.  I need ON, OFF, and the Source codes at least.  I'm really interested though how to do the converting.  I attached the link below for the page with the pdf of codes on it.  Thanks for the help.

Welcome to RC!

You can use MakeHex to generate Hex Codes.

The PDF does not state the IR Protocol or Custom Code (Device Number) but other Infocus Projectors use NEC IR Protocol and a Custom Code of 0x4E87. [Link: infocus.com]. So I would imagine this would be the same.

The Custom Code of 0x4E87 (Device Number and Sub Device Number) is a Hex Number that needs to be converted to Decimal.

4E is the Device Number and = 78 in Decimal.
87 is the Sub Device Number and = 135 in Decimal.

So the Device Number you need for MakeHex is 78.135.

MakeHex Instructions

1). Open Nec1.irp File with NotePad and edit it to Device=78.135 and save.

2). Drag and drop the Nec1.irp File onto the MakeHex Application Window. This will create a Hex File named Nec1.

3). Open the Nec1 Hex File with NotePad to view results.

4). In the PDF match the Code/Decimal Column/Numbers to the Functions Numbers in the Nec1 Hex File for the Key Name and copy the Hex Code starting from 0000...

That's it!

The codes are probably in the URC Database under a different model seeing that Infocus seem to use the same Codes for all Projectors.

Cheers
Jason

mdavej has written a GUI for MakeHex called MakeProntoHex that I find very useful.

Just put MakeProntoHex in the same directory as MakeHex.  You can easily select the protocol and enter the range of devices/function numbers.  No need to open and edit an irp file, or drag files around.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I have been kind of thrown into the fire on this one. It's great to have a place like this to ask questions at. Have a good day. I'll let you know how it works out.
