Hello I was just wondering if there is any way to use my TSU-9600 with the Fujitsu new inverter air conditioning wall unit or it can't be done.

The way these A/C's work is the remote spits out a full set of values for the console depending on the settings currently on the remote. Best way to sample them is first set the remote to Auto for mode, fan, vent angle etc and run through the range of temperatures you want. When you increment the temp, the remote waits until you have finished fiddling and transmits a long RECS80 style code. You'll end up with codes for 18, 19, 20, 21 degrees etc. with the other settings that were current when you sampled them. Works fine with my Joey remote but I don't have pronto hex for them else I'd post them here.

I need to get a new remote for my Fujitsu split system air conditioners as mine got tossed by accident. Any idea of how to do this? I have tried the remote replacement sites with no luck.

If all you need is a remote for the A/C your best bet is to buy an original as a spare part. You'll need a fairly capable remote (read "expensive") to emulate the Fujitsu's long strings, the cheapies won't cut it....

If you are stuck you can switch on the remote over-ride switch under the cover. Powering up the unit will then put it into the mode it was in when last switched off...

If you still are without a remote control for your Fujitsu air conditioner, just sent us the model of your a/c and we can supply you with orginal remote controller.

I have a Fujitsu Inverter remote control model AR-RAE2U. I would like to switch from Farenheith to Celsius. It is not written in the user manual but I can see that the sign (°C) can appear on the remote screen. Can someone help me?

I have just bought a 12RLS with the same controller. (AR-RAE2U) There must be a jumper somewhere that can be pulled so that it reverts to Celsius. There is a little wire visible when you remove the cover of the battery compartment. I'd like to know if that is the one BEFORE I start changing anything. I can't see anything in the manual or installation sheet. If I can find how to do the change, I'll post it.

I called Fujitsu and got the info . . .

You have to open the case.

Remove cover from battery compartment.
Take batteries out
Remove three small black screws
GENTLY pry open the case trying not to leave any marks
Remove four small black screws holding the circuit board
CAREFULLY lift the circuit board leaving the display in place
Don't touch the contacts between the cb and the display

Now comes the tricky part!

Locate a tiny jumper marked J5
This has to be snipped
(I called back to Fujitsu at this point just to be sure)
It looks like a tiny resistor but it is a simple metal conductor
It is too small for my snips to reach so I sawed through it with an X-acto knife
A scalpel would do the job
You have to be careful not to damage J3 in the next slot
There is nothing in the J6 slot on the other side

Put the cb back in place and reverse the disassembly process.
When you put the batteries back and switch on the display reads Celsius

Thanks, I just bought Fujitsu 12RL with remote (AR-RAE1U) I just email to fujitsu support because the dealer said is not possible to switch in celsius. Fujitsu support send me the same procedure cut J5 jumper.

I just finished reverse engineering the Fujitsu AR-RY16 remote control used on my Fujitsu mini-split air conditioner.  The remote displays temperature, operating mode, fan speed, sleep and timer mode as well as the timer and sleep values and swing mode.  Except for three discrete codes, the remote sends a full set of state information even when only one parameter is changed.  I.e. if you change the temp, the remote sends temp, operating mode, fan speed, swing mode, etc. even if none of these have changed.

The three discrete codes are:

Power Off
Step Horizontal Vane Position
Step Vertical Vane Position

All other changes require a 16 byte command to be sent.

The first 8 bytes are fixed (I assume one of them changes if you want to address more than one air conditioner but I did not open the remote to see which one).

The last byte is a checksum that sums bytes 8 through 16 to zero mod 256.

The rest are as shown.

Thanks for the steps for converting remote control from Fahrenheit to Celsius. cutting the j5 jumper worked like a charm. fiouf! I have the 12rls model by the way. I don't know if it's the same remote controller for all units but it worked for mine.

I used the exacto knife method - as described by ScottVE7QT- to cut out the j5 jumper. Had to use a magnifying glass too as my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Four questions:
1. Could you clarify how to compute the checksum?
2. Do you mean byte when you say word in the pdf?
3. Do single value commands need checksum?
4. What is the significance of Fujitsu-56 Coding on bottom right of pdf?

1) The checksum is the byte that makes all the bytes from byte 8 on added together equal zero modulus 256. ("Sum of Word 8 to Word 16 equals XX00.")
2) Yes "Word" means 8 bits in this case.
3) As I remember the single value commands are sent exactly as shown
4) Fujitsu-56 is a coding method for IR signals. The single value commands are in Fujitsu-56 coding. If you remote allows you to enter codes this way these are the parameters. It is an alternate way to represent the pattern of 1s and 0s to the left of each coding.

My TSU7000 data file with these codes in it is available in the files section. You can download the free Pronto software, load my datafile into it and pull out the Phillips IR codes from it if you want.
