Search for terms like "makehex" on the forums

Also, search for posts by "johnsfine"

Gents,

This is a device that I also need a little help with. I have downloaded makehex and I think after poking around for a few hours now that I am finally beginning to understand where the device and function numbers come from. So, I now have a few questions...

In the example above the info from marantz is 11 12 01 for power on, with 01 being the function number, right?

So if the code I am trying to use is just 11 16 then am I looking for function 0?

Also, this is a Vol+ code which you would think would be easy enough to just learn (and I have) but the problem is when you learn a code on a UR mx900 it won't automatically repeat when you hold the vol button on the remote. Is there a way to change that in the raw hex code? I noticed that IRtool has separate fields for "one time" and "repeating" so I was hopeful that it could be done but am also clueless as to how to pull it off.

Any help?

Thanks a ton

Hi mistapuggs,
When using makehex you have to make sure you are using the correct Protocol for the IR Hex codes you are generating.
Marantz use rc5 and rc5x Protocol.

rc5 uses two digits eg. 11 16 (VOLUME +).
11 is the device number and 16 is the function number.

rc5x uses three digits eg. 11 12 01 (POWER ON).11 is the Device number,12 is the Sub Device number and 01 is the function number.

When you use makehex edit the IRP File for rc5,
eg. 11 16 (VOLUME +).
Device=11
Function=16
Or you can generate all 128 codes for that device (Function=0..127)

For rc5x,
eg. 11 12 01 (POWER ON).
Device=11.12
Function=1
Or you can generate all 64 codes for that device (Function=0..63)

VOLUME +
Device Code: 11 Function: 16
0000 0073 0000 000A 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0CC5

Thanks Jason,

That answers the bulk of my questions. For some reason there is very little documentation about makehex and specifically what info goes in the device and function areas.

Anyone have any input on the repeating/ non-repeating question?

Have you tried the hex code for volume+ I posted to see if that works?
Does the original remote allow you to repeat the volume+ when held down?

Sorry for the late reply.

JasonVP,

Thanks Sooooo much for the help, the new codes worked perfectly and the vol+ and vol- both worked as planned and they repeated too. I finally learned Makehex and how it ticks but I would never have gotten it without the help...Thanks again!

Digging up and old one...

Anyone have the basic commands for this thing? I have no factory remote to learn from. It was originally installed with RTI, by another dealer. So I don't have the commands in my libraries. Need to create a C4 Driver.

Thanks,
Andy
