I have had quite a bit of success finding discrete video input codes and power on/off codes using various Harmony remotes. Once you load the device into the remote you can go into advanced setup and check whether it has discrete codes and quite often it does. I then use the Harmony remote to spit the code into the remote I am programming, assuming its not a Harmony, and the new remote learns it as 'learned IR'. Just did a 65" Panasonic plasma tonight and it works like a charm for discrete on/off switching.
