That surprises me. Every JVC VCR I've come across in the
last 10 years (at least a dozen different models) responded
to the discrete on and off codes.
I sent the codes, as posted on that page, to Harmony support and they added them to the device. The VCR did not respond to them.
It is possible that something went wrong during the process but, so far, I have not heard any success story for that particular model.
