I see in the files area that there are discrete codes for toggling up or down through the list of DSP modes on Yamaha Receivers (or I guess that's what it is), but are there discrete codes available for a specific mode - such as Dolby Pro Logic II Music, Dolby Pro Logic II Movie, etc...

Currently there is a button on the remote for Dolby and I have to hit it mulitple times to toggle through the various Dolby modes. It would be nice to be able to go directly to the right mode instead of toggling.

I did a search but didn't turn anything up.

Thanks

At the Yamaha website, under Customer support, you will find an Excel document that you can download, containing all of the discrete IR codes. I have found this document very useful in the past.

Proscan,
I appreciate the pointer. I had actually already been there but I wasn't sure what I was looking at I guess. It seems, from reading further into the website, that "extended codes" are in fact discrete codes correct?

The only problem is that I have the Yamaha HTR 5660 and it doesn't even list any HTR models in the drop down list for extended codes. I guess I could pick one of the models that is relatively close and just try it to see if it works?

Thanks

Mebby,
Simply cut and paste the extended discrete codes from the RX-V1400 area in the Excel document. Yamaha is pretty good about making sure their codes work in different receivers. I have not used the HTR series, but chances are, the codes will work.

I have a Yamaha HTR-5440 receiver and looking for discretes. I saw
the posting about [Link: yamaha.com]
and how they show discretes... but they only show 4 hex numbers.... not
the whole string so i'm confused. Where exactly do these go? I tried copy/pasting
them in as the last 4 of some already working RC5 codes but that didn't
do anything.

Please advise, thanks!

YSP-1000 codes from Yamaha PDF are in a condensed alpha-numeric format and the prontoPro will only convert them to hex decimal if they are numeric only (I have done this with Arcam codes ok)
Any way of converting these codes with another program and then cutting and pasting them into the Pronto box directly?

There are a lot of previous threads describing the method to convert codes from the form Yamaha publishes to the condensed proto hex form that starts with "900A". Most of those threads also tell you how to use the MakeHex program to convert to ordinary pronto hex (in case you have an old enough Pronto or other device that it won't accept the 900A form).

It should have been easy to find such threads in the forum search, using just obvious keywords such as "Yamaha" and "discrete" or "pdf". It might be even easier if you throw in "900A" and/or "MakeHex".

BTW, the Yamaha codes are NEC1. They are not RC5, nor any of the other Philips protocols that can be converted directly from decimal by PontoEdit.
