If you input the ir signal from the other room into the multi room ir input jack on the back it will control the zone 2 portion of the Harman Kardon only. If you are using the zone 2 remote in the same room as the receiver it is the same codes as the main remote. Put a IR receiver in another room and take the ir output from it and insert it into the remote ir in on back, not the main ir in and it will work easily. When you are in the other room you simply hit the source you want and the multi-room is turned on in that source mode. Then simply hit off on the zone 2 remote and the multi-room is off. I do this all the time. It is actually easier to control the HK stuff from another room than from in front of the receiver. A lot less steps to go through. If you would like it to be easier from the same room as the receiver I have taken an RF universal remote and assigned a single port from the rf base station to a button labled m-room and take the assigned output from the base station and input it into the multi-room ir in jack on the back so when you select m-room from your remote then select the source its like your in another room controlling it. It makes it easier for my customers to operate then going through all the steps before the menu times out on the HK receiver. Hope this helps.
