Used to be on some projectors you got a 12V trigger which was a cool feature in relation to the screen. However as the prices drop and we get more and more ACME no frills products that feature is gone at least on the under 2k projectors.

Does anyone know of a projector with the trigger or know of an outboard trigger that can be adapted?

Thanks!

Jobsite connecting block (OK, Niles, too) offers a 12 volt ir controlled trigger option. You need to use the larger ones to get the feature. It's a good deal!

I doubt any projectors would be in use without sound, so why not use a trigger off the receiver?

Runco has 'em but watch out. Some models can't be configured for different uses. For example, on the 610 the trigger sends 12v as long as the unit is on and 0 as soon as you hit the pwr off, not after the cool down cycle. OK if its triggering a screen or drapes but not so good for a projector lift.

The Epson 200 used to but the new 200+ only has RS232. I would try some type of IR trigger, or use the reciever as suggested earlier.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Not all systems with a projector are for video only. It would be pretty strange to turn your system on to play a CD and have the projector come down out of the ceiling.

Ran into this five years ago with a Sony Projector. Calrad (www.calrad.com) has a nifty little 12 volt digital timer that I adjusted for two minutes. It holds the lift down after the trigger has gone away, and the exact second that the fan quits, the timer quits and the lift goes up.

Yamaha projectors have a trigger that can be set to go off with power off or with fan off. Smart guys, at least on this one.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I've used the Niles light sensor in the past to trigger a 12v powersupply to control a screen. The Vidikron 12v trigger would not work with the Da-Lite screen.

Niles APC-2, 12 volts or contact closure, you can adjust the current sensing so that it mantaints the trigger until the fan quits.

I'll have to check into that in case I get a project without Crestron control. In my case I just rigged a 12v wall wart through a NO contact and added the nessessary programming for a delay time.

...a trigger that can be set to go off with power off or with fan off.

We found out on that project that we would need a higher end model in order to get that ability

Most of the good receivers allow you to pick and choose which triggers fire with which inputs.

I've got this problem, and need something like the Calrad unit you describe. I want the lift (Chief SL-151) to extend immediately when triggered by the projector (Epson 8500UB), then retract 2 minutes after being triggered by the projector when powered down. Can you recommend a specific Calrad (or National Controls, etc.) unit that will do this (no delay on first trigger to extend, programmable delay on second trigger to retract)?

Thanks for your help!

Another +1 for integra!! Just assign the trigger to the sources that needs the projector.

There is also discrete IR commands for trigger a/b/c on and off which make it really useful and virtualy 100% bulletproof for integration.
