Pioneer bought a NEC plant in Japan, I think in Kyoto, a few years ago, and used the leftover NEC glass and generic electronics, and threw on their bezel, and sold them by the lot to the wholesale stores like Costco.
I ran into this crap a few times when they first started selling the Pio units. I am a Pio dealer, and have had to fight the customers buying at Costco. My best and shortest response now: If you're shopping for prices, let me know now, because we're not going to be able to work together.
