..so far.

So I tell the client "just go buy the 42" at Costco and I'll integrate it with the whole deal".

Problem: No discretes. At all (doesn't work with any code sets from Pronto or HTM)

Now it's my fault for telling her I could set it up no problem. bla. serves me right.

I knew there was a reason for the lowball cheap price.

Now if anyone has the codes for the PDP-42A3HD / PDP4214HD I'd be most appreciative.

I know, wrong forum. I'm a little desperate on this one. scuzi.

I know that the 42" pioneers are usually NEC products...one of em bought the other's Plasma operations.

if it's 43" it's poneer, if it is 42" it is NEC with Pioneer name on it. Another indicator is if there are inputs on the sides of the panel

Perhaps you should try NEC codes from prono and HTM

Also, Pioneer has codes listed in the custom installer section of their site, not sure if they are on that site yet, but you can always try any 42" codes.

I'd say to try NEC (which was already mentioned), Fujitsu, and Hitachi codes. I don't know if it's still the case but those used to be the only manufacturers of the glass and everyone else OEM'd from them.

I tried the following HTM codes at my local Costco to no avail:

335 Pioneer
334 Pioneer
237 Pioneer/NEC

I also have a customer that would like to purchase 4 of these.

if anyhting is going to work, it will be Pioneer PDP-424MV or NEC 42XM3

Look at page 2 of the PDF to see the NEC remote
[Link: necvisualsystems.com]

This is the NEC remote in Pioneer clothing.

Hope these links work

Does it have a serial port? Hate to suggest this but it might be necessary to go to an IR to serial adaptor.

Different remote. The following NEC codes from HTM database do not work:
272
281
262
197

Pioneer code 209 the P-OFF works as a toggle.

I located a worthless "input" toggle as well.

You know, the menu and particularly the input display reminds me of the Samsung. ugh.

Anyway, still no solution as of yet..

There is a company Celadon that makes a preprogrammed IR to RS232 convertor that includes a pronto ccf of the commands. I've used them on NECs and Fujitsu plasmas. No muss, no fuss

I'd maliciously tell the customer to call the local Costco and ask for the discretes.

Then at the end of the day, I'd reflect upon all of the time and energy that I spent in trying to solve a problem that not only didn't I create, but someone else made the money on.

Like most of you, I devote a heck of a lot of time in researching components and establishing good relationships with manufacturers so that I may be able to provided products with good track records and be able find help when I'm in my time of need. This (painstaiking and unbillable time) is then wrapped up and packaged into our hourly rate and into the pricing of our goods.

When I hear a customer say "oh, I saw this great deal at Store X", I'll immediatley tell them that I can't guarantee that anything that they buy outside of what was specified for the job will work correctly.
