Bob, That link doesn't work. Tried calling Marantz with no luck, and the provide no chat link either. Shitty way to run a company. If I were a dealer looking to pick up a line, this would be a real red flag. |

Bob, What I found was "duckduck' won't allow. I updated my Google Chrome and got the hex codes in a PDF, so I can copy and paste. Maybe now, I'll have some success. PS: An old trick when wiring a RJ45 for most anything. Using a normal RJ rather than a EZ version, I use a hairpin to hold the wires in position, removing it as the wires begin going into their respective slots. I started doing this back when "they" said you shouldn't use the EZ version on extenders. Do people still use extenders? I doubt it since you can get crazy long fiber HDMI cables now, |

I use extenders sometimes depending on situation, usuaully in commercial apllications. Most homes we use actie optical HDMI cables. The problem with active HDMI cables is they can fail. If they will be difficult to replace later, I might use an extender instead. We haven't had an Ethereal or Bullet Train active optical cable fail but many other brands. I have seen a lot of failures of various brands of these optical cables after a few years. Haven't had any problems with extenders. The disadvantage of extenders is there is slight decrease in picture quality for 4K/HDR as they have to use some compression. Most will never notice the difference. Resolutions lower than 4K or 4K without HDR have been fine as they don't need compression. |

I haven’t been using them, but wireless HDMI is becoming more common. Don’t assume they support ARC. Although the wireless adapter might accept 4K, few will forward 4K. I'd love to see some success stories posted. |

I will say, having the hex codes just means a lot of work. It IS tedious at best. I remember how much I hated doing hex. |

One of the benefits of running Bullet Train AOC cables is if they fail or technology changes, you can cut off the HDMI end and terminate the Cleerline fiber as normal. Pop on a LC or SC connector and you're good to go. It's only OM2 but usable. |

That is true for some other AOC cables as well. We use Bullet Train a lot. The problem is fiber extenders are expensive at the moment. Hopefully, that will change in the future.

UPDATE. Using the hex codes, I was able to get the Marantz programmed and working properly. Using an old SnapAV extender and it worked as well. Next issue was controlling the TCL TV, but after trying all the code sets, I grabbed code 755 from the URC database, and now have it turning on and off with only one glitch. Turns off like it should, but turning it on makes the Marantz mute audio. So onr mute touch is needed to get it back (a small price to pay?). Client is happy. |

Not sure Daniel. I'm going to look at the remote programming today to see if I ended up with some loose codes from me playing around looking for something that works. Not that I would ever make a mistake. Using an old URC MRF-250 which is generally a POS with any remote. Those things were always a problem. |
