I have a saucer style Roku connected to hdmi 2 on my Samsung tv. I use to press any button on my Roku remote, and it would turn on the tv and select input hdmi 2. It no longer does that. But if I do a system restore on my Roku it works, but it works only 4 times. On the fifth try it no longer does anything. I don’t know if this matters, but the Roku connects to the internet via WiFi. I don’t know if this is a clue, but I have a 2nd Roku connected to a Sony tv and it operates exactly like what I just described. They coincidentally both started acting this way at the same time. Thanks for the help:

Thanks for the help: Just like AppleTV, devices are sometimes declared 'obsolete' by the manufacturer without telling users. I have a couple of the same Roku (and older) and they all became slow and no updates were offered, so I replaced them. The better thing about Roku is that they're much less expensive than AppleTV. Try going into the settings and make sure it still set to control other devices and check for updates. Test the network connection, too.

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder." |

I had to allow “Permissive” control by network apps. While I often use IP control, in this case I was using the IR remote.
