I got a customer that bought an existing building with a rack crammed with equipment and bad cable managing. Has audio system, camera system, network, POS system, video matrix over IP, etc.
Comcast Business came in to change their modem(s) and authorize new account. As usual, even thou the idiot had no reason to mess with anything else, he apparently TOUCHED EVERYTHING! Broke the whole building, nothing works now. Comcast went and put cable boxes on all 10 TVs, disconnecting the IP video matrix (that's going to make the cable bill go way up).
The customer already got the POS guy there, a company from Atlanta is coming to redo all the cameras, and a guy is there now messing with the network. No one wants to touch the audio system since it's a DANTE system (I think they are scared of it). So I got called.
To me - this is "To many chief's and not enough Indians". I can't NOT touch the network because that's part of the system. So I for see many fingers pointing in the near future.

I actually have only messed with a few of these type audio systems before and that was a longtime ago.
Speakers = 20+ Soundtube IPD-CM52s-BGM-II. Controller appears to be a Biamp Tesira Forte DAN CI. Can't tell yet if there is a dedicated POE+ switch for this (there are at least 4-5 POE switches in the rack). Even if there was, I'm sus that someone hasn't mixed shit around. The POS guy already finished and had his stuff all working. The network guy is there now and pulling a lot of stuff out and putting in Ubiquity - he's touching the POS guy's stuff. Not my problem and just gave a light warning; to ahich he replied it will be OK, he knows what he's doing (they all f^n say that). Told him if he see's a high powered POE switch (like 600+watts) not to f^n touch it - that is probably dedicated to the audio system.

My question = The free software for the Biamp (Biamp Canvas) looks to be way overkill. They are only running audio distribution - no mics, or anything else! Is there another software that can control the Biamp or Dante?
Also looking at the free software from Soundtube (STNet). Trying to get them up and running quickly and of course, cheapest way to do it. They are interested in adding more sources later.

Well this turned into a $hit show quick. The client failed to tell me MANY things about what happened. They knew who the previous company that installed everything was, there was some bad blood. There is suspicion the other company sabotaged everything.

Went there yesterday. The 3 network switches at the top were completely locked out. No access to the settings, all ports seemed to be isolated from each other. No way to factory reset. One was a 1000w 48 port Ruckus, the other 2 were 600w 48 port Cambium. Nothing I could do to restore them.

Bypassed the switches to a couple of speakers with another POE switch and controller. I could access the Biamp then but could only see the speakers on the network no control. Even using the factory software, I could not access the speakers. Again, no reset buttons or anyway to control the speakers.
Don't know what they did but the customer has a $20K audio system now that's a brick. I gave up after 4 hours.

They went with a SONOS system throughout and seem to be happy. So I went and took a nap.
