It would appear that it is dead. Sat in the shop unused for a long, long time.

Connected it and got a very low volume initially, and now it has nothing.

Thinking I'll open it up and either get a plate amp that might fit it, or will turn it into a passive sub.

IF I can get the old plate amp out of it. I've removed every screw possible and it's not coming out so far. Next step is my trusty hammer and chisel...LOL

Likely a capacitor failure. It’s hard to know if any other components were damaged.

As you remove the amplifier, a slow constant pressure results in the least enclosure damage. I’d be tempted to attach a significant weight to a corner of the plate, invert, and check back in a couple days. You might also be able to work through the woofer mount or an acoustic port.

IIRC, Velodyne used a MFB (Motion FeedBack) system, which used a separate voice coil wind- it wa either MFB or the cone had an accelerometer, used for controlling the woofer.

If you can't remove the amp, it may be time to stick a fork in it.

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I looked at it today. just looked at it. Did not try to work on it...

Had it connect to the old Yamaha with everything shut down except the power to the sub, and in the middle of the night it started popping.

I go up and pulled the plug think it was gonna blow. LOL

Tomorrow will be hammer and chisel, then sledge hammer...LOL

Still rocking a DD15 here. Now in its third house, and honestly I keep expecting something to die - like after it recently sat in storage for 2 years - but… all still working!
