DON'T avoid 1,6,11 - those are the ONLY non-overlapping 2.4 Ghz channels and if you use anything besides those in the US you're just ruining multiple bands.

That's the reason I don't like seeing Auto for the channels.

Then there are the "smart" guys (or routers) who will use 40MHz 2.4GHz channels off the 1-6-11 grid because no one else is using those channels. I see these guys move around -- probably auto searching for the "best" channel.

I'm amazed that my urban WiFi works at all. A quickie scan turned up over 150 access points. I suppose a few of these are drive-by's. At the moment there is only one guy on channel 10 with multiple access points. Of course, some of his access points are 40Mhz. Fortunately, it's not a major upset for my phone because it is still claiming slightly over 500MBPS download, while sitting one room removed from the Gateway.

There's the reason the 5Ghz and 6Ghz spectrum was made.

For new builds, I treat 2.4Ghz bandwidth as providing Bluetooth-level service for WiFi devices. Sure there might be slightly longer range than Bluetooth, but I don't put high throughput, time-sensitive devices there. Personal mobile devices should connect to higher-bandwidth bands unless they have to fall-back to the slower, more congested 2.4Ghz radio space because they are roaming outside the primary coverage area.

Apple phones hang onto nodes that are well past useless, as you saw in the logs showing returning to weaker ones- Apple knows it, but they don't have answers.

It’s called “Apple Claws”; affectionately of course.

And because it exists, some sort of controller is needed to kick the device off, just like Brad’s system he recommended.

Tell your client that the fellow responsible for the airport series from Apple started a new company when they ceased the offering. That company is called Ubiquiti..

Interesting. As soon as I read that they wanted to disrupt the market, I bought one of their routers. IIRC, it was about $30 and it worked great.

I've been using mostly eero, like a lot of Sonos Dealers. Seem to have no problems that I know of. Should I not use it?

I have referred to that as 'separation anxiety', as if the phone is a baby and the mother is handing it to someone else.

There was a period when Sonos and eero did not get along, each company blaming the other. Grudgingly, eero made an update that seems to have fixed the issues.
