Hello everyone,

Ernie Gilman is my father and I let him know you folks have been asking about him. He asked me to share his situation with you. He has some as yet undiagnosed form of mental decline and is unable to use a computer or smart phone any longer. That's why he hasn't posted in a while. When speaking it’s very hard for him to find the words that used to flow so well and he’s not always clear what’s going on around him.

You all have been his community for 24 years and I want to thank you for that. Dad was touched by your concern as well. If you have any words of wisdom or of comfort or reminiscences to jog his memory, I will get them to him.

Thank you and Merry Xmas.

-Steven Gilman

Thank you for the update Steven, your dad was one of the daily members here and we all had a love for his comments and advise over the years. Sorry to hear of his condition and hope there is a solution and he can get back to a normal state.
He has been missed by us here and wish him well as well as the rest of the family.

Please give him our best and well wishes!

Sorry, Son of Ernie but we’re going to need more information if you want our help diagnosing your audio visual problem. Make and model of the device and how you have it connected to start with.

That’s about as close as I could come to your dad’s common response to vague AV questions :). EBG is a legend!

Please print these pages of responses for him and see how he does. Maybe the color, format, names with jog some of his memories. Wishing the best for you and your dad through these hard times.

Steven,

Sorry to hear about your dad's decline. I think it's safe to say that your old man drove everyone of us absolutely bonkers at one point or another. LOL  I'd really like to butcher the grammar in this post just for the simple fact that I know he won't correct me!

Tell your dad we all love him, and we'll be praying for him as well as you and your family.

Wow.

This is hard to hear. I'm sure all of us that had any dealings with him here, will really miss having him around.

Best wishes from the "trunk".

Sorry to hear about Ernie's situation. I always enjoyed his ability to push people to nearly "rage quitting" by asking for more and more information. It was always with the intent to help. He had loads of valuable advice and experience and enjoyed sharing it with the community. Thanks for taking the time to keep us in the loop.

I tried shooting him an email and got worried when I didn't get a response. Glad he is okay and sorry you are all going through this rough time. I hope he gets better soon. This place isn't the same without him. We all have a lot of great memories with your father. He is an incredibly smart and kind human being. Please send him my best wishes. Please see if he remembers about teaching me discrete from discreet and the analogy he used, haha. This was when I was 16 or 17 years old I think! We miss you EBG!

Best,
Ali

I was worried when he didn’t respond to texts or email.  I think I searched and tried to leave you a text also.

Would he do well with visitors?  I’m up north but passing through on the way to Phoenix soon.  Would love to say hello.

I don’t get here very often anymore and just now saw this. Steve, I’m sorry to hear about your dad’s condition. He’s a good man and missed here. I’ve wondered about how he was doing many times.

So sorry to hear this. Man, I was probably the one that led to his mental decline given how often he corrected me on here.

Jokes aside, tell him we care and wish him all the best 😔
