I have a customer whose remote puked, so I'm looking for a relacement and the MX-1400 seems like a decent model (slightly larger screen than some of the others) but I'm wary of Voice command.

Does that work, or should I just tell them that it was a nice idea, but....?

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

The voice commands only worked for Alexa & Xfinity. Everyone was hoping they would expand the voice control but it never happen. In fact, the reverse happened. They took Alexa away (some technical reason).

So the ONLY thing that remote can voice control now is Xfinity cable boxes.

For an additional $200 MSRP over the MX990, just to voice control a cable box, seems stupid to me. They both have 2.4" screens, same size. The MX-990 has more buttons (num pad).
But if someone really likes the styling of the 1400 over the 990, then that maybe worth the xtra cash to them.

If they would make voice control available for all the popular devices (Cable boxes, Apple TV, Roku, Google TV, Firestick, Alexa, etc...), then the remotes would be worth that premium.
But we all know that ain't going to happen. I'm 99% sure 3rd parties in India or Korea create all the software for URC these days. So if they can't do it, we ain't getting it.

I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I agree!!!

It doesn't control enough devices with voice. If your customer's main function is Xfinity than maybe. If it also had number buttons than definitely for Xfinity customers. Many customers wouldn't want to give up the number buttons for their cable box. Yes, I know you can have the numbers on the screen but just not as easy. It would be a discussion with the client.

If they add other devices with voice and IP, I stress IP even if only one way. IP would make it worth the extra $200. If this happens, it could be a nice remote!

Most manufacturers couldn't be bothered to add an IR input jack on their equipment because they seem to think customers won't pay for it.

The list of features that SHOULD be included is amazing- they really need to stop allowing the marketing department to make design decisions.
