Client went out and bought three LG OLEDs for a gym. The LG remotes really blast their signals. When you turn on one TV it turns on all the other TV's.

Tried set ID in the menu but turns out that is for some other type of set up.

Tried to repair each remote but they still control each other. I found a post online that claimed holding the home and back buttons together for 5 seconds would do this but no luck.

Is there any sneaky way to isolate LG TV's so the remotes don't control the other TV's.

On that note, I have another job coming up with four TV's together. Simple set up so I don't really want to use control, but do Sony or Samsung allow you to dedicate a remote to each TV so they don't power each other on?

I have not seen assignable IR on TV's in a very long time on consumer sets. (If ever)

the Pairing on LG(And most other TV's) are for Bluetooth commands which is usually any kind of "Wand" control and Voice. IR Codes are still usually IR. Especially Power and Volume. Line of sight.

Maybe I'm not understanding something but when you say 4 TVs together - do you mean all 4 on the same wall in the same room?
How is that in anyway a 'simple set up'? How would you think there would be any other way to control something like that, unless you used some type of control system?

For the other customer; the LG OLEDs come with Bluetooth remotes. Did he plug all 3 TVs in at the same time while he was pairing remotes? Or did he not pair any of the remotes yet and it is responding to IR from an unpaired remote? My memory is failing me at this moment about how those silly LG remotes work.

As always, time is saved when all components in a system are mentioned. This is a piece of cake, though the commands aren't right on top of things, with DirecTV receivers. IIRC, sixteen DirecTV remote control addresses are available. However, that was with the old white remotes; I haven't looked at the present remote to see if they also are addressable.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I guess it's safe to say with consumer TV's, this isn't possible. The only source this guy is using the LG TV's are the built-in streaming capabilities, so it would be nice to be able to separate them, but doesn't look possible. I actually created some semblance of separation by partially blocking the IR windows on the TV's to reduce their sensitivity. It actually works pretty well, but def a hack solution.

It's for gym in a mountain community. Hardly anyone ever uses the space. He went out and bought all the TV's and then someone gave him my name.

If you were to add a Roku to each tv, one that comes with Wifi voice remote. Then go into the secret menu and switch the remote from sending tv IR to sending Roku CEC. So, it would be Wifi from the remote to the given Roku, and then cec over to the hdmi cable to given TV. So, no IR, no conflicts.

To get to the secret menu:

press Home 5x REW, PLAY, FF, PLAY REW, look for RF remote menu> Transit Menu> cec

If that doesn't work, try Home 5x, FF, PLAY, REW, PLAY, FF instead.

OK, even I didn't know about that feature in the secret menu. Really cool.

AppleTV does this by default I believe. I wonder why Roku doesn't do this by default.

You could, of course, also use a control system (Pro Control or RTI) to accomplish this.

Used to use a Xantech RT8 exactly for this purpose. If you don't mind used, they pop up on Ebay for $20. People that still have new ones in stock want unreasonable money for them.

If you follow Benjh's advice, make sure you have an RC68, a 782 power supply, an IR target, a programmable remote, and, of course, emitters.

Those aren't currently available from Xantech.

Only way to reliably do this is a some type of control system. Pick your poison, URC, RTI, C4, Savant, Crestron.

Im not sure why no other company had come up with an updated version of this setup. It seems so simple.

Anil, because the RF alternatives are more trouble free, frankly. More consistently reliable, an order of magnitude simpler to program..

I provided tech support for customers who bought them. It was not a simple process...

How many unique remote/FireStick combinations are available?

I’d prefer a control system. We installed multiple TV’s in a club and their gaggle of ‘experts’ vetoed a control a control system. They now have a drawer of remotes, each labeled for a TV and the staff must deal with each TV individually. This is not my idea of fun. Plus, the ON command tends to be universal, requiring that IR power commands be guided to the desired TV. This is complicated by the cable boxes dedicated to each TV. Cable box updates might disable the cable box remote pairing and TV’s tuned to the same channel don’t stay synced.

There is also a problem with guests bringing a TV remote from home or discovering the club’s drawer of remotes and installing a private App on a TV. In addition to confusing the staff, this also exposes the club to potential public display of intellectual property spats.
