Hooking up a network with 5 U6-lite Aps. All of them are hard wired. One of them wants to connect thru mesh to another ap. Here is the wiring config.

Ubiquiti switch > patch panel > RJ45 jack > net gear switch > Ap.

I have mapped the wire and all is ok there. So why is this particular ap not setting up as wired?

TIA

Have you done a hard reset on it? Flashed firmware via ssh? Tried moving the trouble AP to another location?

Turn off wireless uplink in the site settings page of the controller. That will force it to wired connection

Every time that has happened to me it was a bad wire/Crimp where the POE would work but not data.

Not to sound like an ass but I switched from Ubiquiti to eero in residential years ago. It's fast, easy to set up and reliable. Don't see any reason to go back and they now have a Poe product that can mount to the ceiling to replace old unifi products.

For simple projects and if you don’t mind Eero having the ability to change your dealer access with an app update you’re correct. However, as soon as true VPN, VLAN, or multiple SSIDs with different configurations are presented Eero is a dead stop. Definitely vetting your client before selling a system is the important first step but if you offer Eero as your sole choice I’d be surprised if you haven’t run into a limitation that really makes you wish you had a more open system. Unifi app setup and remote management is about as easy as it gets.

Yes this is exactly true. We deal with commercial and large homes and Eero would never work for the networks these systems require. Eero is just simply put a consumer mesh WiFi system. UniFi is a much more advanced system with routers, switches, different AP options and much more tweaking, fine tuning and configuration. Its not enterprise grade but its prosumer.

This can be puzzling in a partially wired mesh. I had a similar situation with Sonos on the wired network. During some construction the wire to a switch was damaged, a Sonos unit connected to the switch figured this out and was supplying connectivity to the switch via its Sonos wireless mesh connection. Everything wired to the switch worked, but the speed was much slower than expected.
