Can I use a Hdbaset receiver on a different brands transmitter? I have a few jobs with Atlona matrixes with Hdbaset ports and the Atlona receivers have been failing on them. Swapping the receiver gets it working. Ive gone through dozens of rmas with Atlona and they say it’s a known issue that only affects their extenders, particularly the receiver end, from 2018 but now the replacements they have sent me are doing the same thing. Can I use a different brand receiver and have it pass video and ir. From what I’ve read it should work because everything I’ve read says all Hdbaset devices are cross compatible.

Based on my experience with SnapAV ones, I would say NO.

I had an issue with theirs, and found out the problem was their old style with a 5v power supply and input, and the newer 12v power and input.

Even their tech support had no idea until I brought it up. They would work initially, but then have constant drop outs. I noticed the voltage difference, and had a HMMM moment.

In theory yes, in the real world NO! Had to buy the Epson extender to work with the built in HDBaseT connector on the projector.

We ran into the same nonsense with Atlona HDBaseT a few years back.

WyreStorm HDBaseT worked with Atlona HDBaseT as a fix.

We changed over to using AVPro and never a problem since.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

Thanks guys. I guess I need to talk with the clients and see if they want to swap out the whole matrix to another brand. That’s gonna be a hard sell now. These Atlona extenders have turned out to be a huge pita. The extender kits do the exact same thing.
