I just moved to a new house. I have the cable company (xfinity) combo box bridged with an EERO Pro 6E wired to it. These devices are all the way downstairs in the opposite corner of where my office is. House is dense af...130 years old and i'm too busy/lazy to add wire right now.

In this house (on wifi) i have 5 smart TVs, 3 iPhones, an iPad, 2 Sonos products, 2 laptops and a desktop and an xbox.

I got the EERO thinking it would solve both of my problems. 1. Slow wi-fi speeds and 2. No signal upstairs in my office. Problem 1 was solved. Problem 2 not so much. I do get a signal in the office now but its spotty.

So...

Should i get another EERO Pro 6E or will one of the eero extenders work? I would like to be cheap because i want a proper network at some point but im broke and exhausted from the move right now.

Any Eero will work, but your network will slow down to the slowest denominator.  If you don't need super fast, any Eero will do.

Also, where you been?  Haven't seen you since you ditched Facebook and went off the grid.

Cat6 run through or around the house may be a good temporary solution.

Pro6 probably fine. Pro5 if your budget is strapped. Beacon is another step back in performance but always works.

Dense walls etc may require 2, 3 more Eeros for good coverage everywhere.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

The non-pro Eero 6 will work just fine and have the extra ethernet port, so it's more flexible than the Beacon but the EERO website shows that they're having a sale through Sept 23- they show the Extender at $79, with the discount. If the house doesn't have phone jacks that were installed in the last 30 years, I'm not sure the signal will pass through the walls, though. If it does, you could re-purpose them for network if your network head end is close enough (and accessible for cabling to the phone demarc) .

I live in 120-year-old house, I rent the Eero 6 pro from the cable company, first two Eero's are $10 a month, third for $6. Every month since I began renting, they have had $20 discount applied to account, so it isn't costing me a thing. And I own my own cable modem, no charge there either.

With lathe & plaster walls no sending wires between the units, it works fine using one of the three frequencies for the back haul.

I ditched my “online friends” Facebook. I still have my personal Facebook. Hit me up. Same name sans the 39.

Right around when Covid kicked off I got out of a 17 year relationship, moved to Tulsa and lived there for a year. Met my wife…got married and moved to Southern California (San Bernardino). 2 months later I moved to Springfield IL where I’m at now.

Every hole I make releases cursed dust that has me coughing for a week lol. Seriously though I’m just exhausted. All my free time is spent renovating or assembling something.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try the eero pro as my second AP.
