Looking at Ubiquiti Talk, have been pretty happy with their other lines the past couple years. Yealink seems to be the go-to for the IT folks in our area.

I like their stuff as well but I think their solution need a Unifi controller as well as the phone; he is looking for a platform independent solution.

Before you totally nix Ubiquiti's Talk, look into it. All it needs is a Cloud Key Gen 2 to manage it. I haven't seen anything that comes close to their costs per line. On top of that, he can manage it himself. They also don't charge extra for all of the bells and whistles.

I've used Net2Phone for commercial small business. Servcice provider and hardware / support. 8 extensions all cordless, full auto attendant, VM with transcription and all portal managed.
So far pretty happy.

For my small business, we use VOIP.ms for our VOIP provider and equipment. It's been great for us because it's affordable and reliable. They offer a wide range of features and their customer service is top-notch.
