Millennials Unearth an Amazing Hack to Get Free TV: the Antenna

[Link: cetusnews.com]

"Cord-cutters accustomed to watching shows online are often shocked that $20 ‘rabbit ears’ pluck signals from the air. Is this legal?"

This made me laugh as I've watched the RemoteCentral forum on TVs and antennas ([Link: remotecentral.com]) evolve, split and basically grind to a halt over the last dozen years. In the mid 90s I designed and installed three retail store antenna systems with 52 dB amplifiers feeding more than 400 TVs plus 60 FM outlets. Last week I had to hustle to find a pair of 4-way splitters!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I was recently talking to a friend about his moody and mouthy 13 year old son. My thought was that it would be three years before he could control the kid via access to a car. Kid is a jerk, take away the keys. After all it worked when my parents did it to me 30 years ago.

His response... "My kids don't care about driving, they just take Uber everywhere"

I felt old.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

Nah, if you take away the credit card, they can still sell bodily fluids. As the old song goes, "No, no, they can't take that way from me."

And where does the little dear get his money? That, too, can end.

If the kid is that bad, he and the mom need to think about what they could have done differently. Kid needs some discipline, soon.

I doubt they could do that legally.

You missed the line between suggestions and sarcasm. It's behind us.

Not to nitpick, but at least a portion of the "millennial" demographic had a front row seat to this amazing tech in the 80's and early 90's. Some of them probably even received brand new tvs with rabbit ears for Christmas. But I guess that article title isn't as good as "Get off my lawn!"
