Do Marantz receivers not have volume memory and volume recall functions? I looked through the manual, codelists on Marantz's site, and codelist in URC software. I see no mention of this feature. Bummer if it does not.

There is a setting in the menu where you can choose the turn on volume as a specific volume that you input , or the last volume it was at when you turned it off.
Is this what you mean?

Craig Craig, no. Volume Memory/Recall allows you to call up a specific volume level with control system macros. With Yamaha, for example, I set an AVR to a high volume with Volume Recall in my macro for Sonos. With other sources, I set a low Volume Recall. Trying to do the same thing here with a Marantz on a takeover job.

Ggr, Thanks! You just reminded me that Yamaha has this and it will solve EXACTLY this problem I'e run into: no matter how low you set the input trim on the FM tuner, it's still much louder than the DirecTV receiver and BD player.

No memory functions that I know of (10+ years almost exclusively installing Marantz receivers). Workaround is discrete volume IR codes.

I'd rather know with certainty what my control system was sending the volume to instead of relying upon a setting in the AVR that can be changed or reverted easily.

RTi's Marantz driver allows you to set the volume at whatever level that you want on turn on. Called Volume Set.

Urc had 232 volume presets, don't remember them working. This can easily be done with C4. Other than that, turn on volume like Craig said is what you get.

That does not help for this purpose Why not? If you van read current volume level, you can recall it with direct volume set.

I can't imagine starting up a source with high volume.

I have no knowledge on their input level settings to know if it will work. I've set up plenty of Yamaha's with the volume memory/recall function without any issues. I always sent the input command a few times before the recall command to ensure 100% that the receiver switches input first.
