This has been a long, drawn out process, buts it's official. My wife and I are officially residents of Newtown, CT. We purchased a short sale house last month, 7 months after putting our offer in. We moved out of our rental house today that we've been living in since we sold our house early last year. Still lots of work to do, but it's nice to have our own house again and look forward to completing more projects.

Congratulations!

I moved 4 times in the last 5 years. I hate it. Each time i would purge a dumpster full of junk but we still have so much stuff. I never ask anyone to help me move and i am never available to help anyone move. I hire a pro.

I moved 7 times in 7 years. I then settled in with my now wife and lived in our house for close to 8 years. We moved last year into the rental, and now moved all of our stuff into the new house. The one caveat is that EVERYTHING went into the basement. The granite guy screwed us on timing (lied) and we were not able to get the floors redone in time before having to vacate the rental. The fireplace had to be redone and everyone agreed the hearth stone had to go in before the floors were refinished. So for now, everything we own is in our new basement, and my wife and I and our dogs are 40 miles away staying with my father-in-law.

Yep, I was free too. But sorry, next time I'll be busy.

It do suck. I only have moved twice in the last 20 years, but they were both from one far side of the country to the other. And the last one was totally done by myself, which was a bit stressful (and tiring.) I lost a lot of weight in the process so there's that positive aspect to it.

Let's see...

I've moved 4 times in 47 years.

I have never lived outside of VA.

I have never lived more than 4.5 hours from the hospital I was born in.

Having a home you can rely on is very reassuring - congrats and good luck.

If I had to pay someone to move me, it would break the bank.
15 years of crap would take 3 or more full semi trucks.

I hope to die in this house just so i don't have to move.

I've been packing for 6 weeks, off and on in anticpation of the move this fall.

Packing personal belongings is not that hard.

However, packing biz stuff is far more difficult. For the last 10 years I've operated by biz out of my house and my garage literally has way more stuff than my entire house. I've been culling, recycling, packing that damn garage for the last 4 weeks. Pretty closed to be done, but difficult leaving enough parts, tools and hardware unpacked so I can still conduct business. That is the real challenge.

Moving 2000 miles and it will not be cheap. And selling a house in my market sucks. Difficult to find buyers. My house is hella cool and it priced very reasonable

I've been in the process of moving for nearly 6 months. NOT COOL. It's horrible having things half in the new place and half in the old place (old one's going to be torn down, so no rush to vacate - although my year to vacate is up in October and I still haven't done the big move yet...)

I'm hoping this is the last move of my life. The wife and I want this to be our forever home, or so I thought. After closing, she said maybe we should move to the Carolinas. WHAT THE F HAVE I BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS?!?!?!?!?!?!?
