I used to use an older version of Power Director and liked it. Pretty cheap as well

You may have a Windows Multimedia something on your computer. As you use this, keep remembering that the price was right.

It seems Windows has dropped theirs. They have a replacement coming late this year. I would like to find something free for now to start and see if it will get used enough to buy something more complex

For simple fly arounds I use Movie Maker and let it drop to 2K.
For special stuff, text overlays and post processing I mess with Adobe's suite including After Effects.

Search around for Avidemux or VSDC Free Video Editor, both are "relatively" easy to use and free.

I haven't used either in a while but I believe VSDC currently does 4K (if at all necessary).

Worth a shot.

This is a big topic in my boating club. We all use GoPro cameras, and universally hate GoPro studio. The windows guys use windows movie maker. I used to use iMovie, until I got fed up. Windows movie maker actually can do a lot for free software. I'm constantly impressed by what my friend Matt does with it. I'm going ahead and diving into Final Cut Pro, since I'm familiar with it from my video editing days.
