URC is replacing them even if out of warranty. The issue has already been explained: OLED screens. ALL newer ones are LED.

The OEM of the screen is also standing behind the warranty as they are the ones that are the culprit.

URC wont replace them forever of course, nor should they. I think the limit on replacement is four years. Not bad on a two year warranty.

This, for me, is what brought up the whole issue of OLED screens. Does this mean ALL OLED screens have a super short life span? Ive been hesitant and concerned on getting a several thousand dollar OLED TV, which ARE stunning!, in the fear that OLED will die in a few short years? Or was this just a fluke from the OEM of this particular screen on the 780 (TRC-780's did the same thing, not just the MX-780)? Dont know. Never got a real answer. Thus, no OLED TV.

...and to think some people dumped on Plasma TVs for becoming a bit more dim after years of use-
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

LCD not LED screens on the updated MX-780. Must keep the terminology correct as to not add confusion.

As far as OLED TVs go, you must have missed the extensive thread or two we had about this - although it might be over on IP and not here.
Yes OLED wears very fast. It is well documented that some had significant issues with the LG OLED screen after just a year or two, on those 1st & 2nd generations. At some point they moved to a white OLED with color filters to solve the blue problem they were having. And everyone has been working on the longevity problem for decades.
TV manufacture are some of the biggest liars in the world. They always throw incredibly inaccurate numbers out. So it is anyone's guess how long you will actually get from these latest OLED TVs. If we scale the lies from previous experience, they should be up to several good years now (5-7ish???). Then a few more years of dimmer & color shifted use.

"My TV only lasted for three years? "

"Yeah, but if you buy the new one it will last a lot longer."
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
