MoCa has been a godsend and I use it all the time! Except it's gaining in popularity and homes with fios and now X1 for their cable boxes knock out using moca for their things. In a simple setup I'll just rely on the fios router since that has the MoCa network built in but with X1 that's a problem!

Is it possible to have "two networks" on the same coax cable? I'm seeing conflicting reports!

Thanks!

I have been told that it requires splitting the signal before sending it to two modems. It also requires two accounts from Time Warner- they won't do it any other way but that may not address the question in the way you need.

what do you mean? in the case of an X1 job with my own supplied router I would just split the coax at the router and all the coax locations?

Seems to simple considering moca is "omnidirectional" its the same reason you have to put a filter at the DMarc so it doesn't get broadcast out to the world!

For some of the Actiontec adapters there is an utility that let's you configure encryption and channel (frequency) selection. It's similar to the old power line adapters' utility. I've haven't used it for this purpose of running 2 networks, but it should work if you selected different frequencies for each, and paired the adapters using an encryption key...

I've been ordering the latest MoCa adapters 2.0 ...there is no way to adjust the channels on the X1 and fios systems. Do you know if the new actiontec adapters have this ability? If so do you have more directions on how exactly todo this? If this is the case this would be amaizing

Looks like the utility is for the older ones (ECB2500CK01) I'll download it to
See if it lets me into the 2.0 adapters, if not I'll just order the old ones.

Next question is, does anyone know what MoCa channel X1 boxes use?

I spoke with Actiontec about this a couple of days ago...I have a pair of Actiontec MoCA net adapters on each end of a coax run that feeds an add-on theater space for a data link (no category wired to the space). The coax run also feeds a Time Warner DVR.

Next week, however, my client is having Google Fiber TV installed, which will use MoCA to distribute signal over coax (since this home does not have category wired to any TV locations). ActionTec support said that my adapters and the GFTv DVR should co-habitate on the same coax without issue. They also said if there were conflicts, there is a login interface for their adapter that allows custom configuration as previously mentioned.

Awesome! Did they say if the config tool works or if there is a configuration utility for the 2.0? Maybe if I have time tonight I'll grab a few from the shop and give it a try!

I'd imagine that the old utility might work, but the new 2.0 adapters support channel bonding and in order to specify the 2 channels, you may need an updated utility, but I can't find one on their site..

Tech Support instructed that I should call them when onsite and they'd walk me through the setup process by phone...I didn't get any more specifics than that.

Brendon, I don't know anything about MoCA adapters.
In trying to educate myself, I came across this video.
Would that be of help to you?

Confirming that Google Fiber TV adapters and Actiontec MoCA adapters DO cohabitate nicely on the same coaxial wiring with no special setup.

Im bumping this up.

It seems as if Xfinity and Moca cannot cohabitate on the same network without some intervention. Each one seems to knock each other out. the comcast slave boxes just lock up, and the same for the network requiring a reset of the MoCa Adapters. as soon as I reset them the slave boxes work and there is network at the moca location for a few days before getting knocked out again.

this leads me to believe there is a channel issue going on. Im using the ECB6000s

Does anyone know what channel I need to set these on, hopefully outside of what X1 uses?
