I seem to remember that during college bowl-game season.

Still think they're on the CI side?

我不認為如此。

From potential IPO to $2 Billion sale... Seems kind of low to me.

They're still the only big brand that can make a TV with ALL of the connectors perpendicular to the panel... Well, 32" and up at least.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

Impaqt, that's totally true but totally not the point.

The point was that they were remembered as having branded themselves as all-American, so it's ironic or at least disappointing that they would stick a knife in that claim and kill a self-description they had used to gain customers.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hell, they were NEVER all American anyway.

If you believed they were, you are a person that drinks entirely too much of the Kool Aid.

lol.. and Anheuser-Busch and Miller never touted themselves as All American? Busweiser even changed their name to "America" beer this summer didnt they?

That being said, I dont think video ever claimed to be an "All American" company. Theres no way the LCD panels were ever produced here int he states.

Are you folks thinking of NuVision? they were hitting the "American TV Brand" hard when they first came out.

I blame Vizio for the state of the TV industry today. They showed how to make a TV with the lowest quality components at half the cost. You would go into a Costco and there would be a Panasonic or Sony plasma for $3000 and right next to it was a Vizio for half the cost.

They sold a ton of them. Other manufacturers then started to cut corners to drop the price and the race to the bottom began and has not stopped.

Now I regularly see Samsungs and Sonys that are dead after less than 5 years.

Vizio was not the first, and they will not be the last.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Sorry, there were cheap ass TV's WAY before Vizio came into being.

And I love the fact that TV's only last 5-7 years nowadays. It helps keep the market fresh and development moving forward. sure, those old 25" console TV's Lasted 20+ years. and NOTHING progressed in TV technology for 40+ years here in the states.

Sure, the TV's dont last as long, but they look exponentially better than the old stuff and cost a fraction of what they do today.
