I am looking into getting an HDMI test generator and display combo, similar to the Quantum Data 780 style (just not that much). As I am using it for normal HDMI resolution testing as well as using it as a test display, I'm trying to figure out what other features I should be looking for. Range is probably about 4-5k. I am not really looking for suggestions of a model per-say, but rather the types of tests/features I should be looking for. What are some cools things I should look for (ex. HDBaseT testing, EDID emulation, HDMI 2.0 support)? Any help you can offer would be great!

the ability to display the EDID is nice.

I'm also curious what options/ models exist in the space between cdmi continuity checkers, and the quantum data 780

Some other features I like to have is generating custom resolutions, HDCP confirmation (like to check if the system will work or not), and like gigantorsmash said read the EDID. Also checking cables max output (sometimes they say one thing and do another), as well as analyzing metadata. The quantum data is a beast no doubt, i wish I could afford one. I use the Murideo stuff and it's working great.

New HDBaseT Tester Measures Cable Length, Signal Integrity, HDCP 2.2 Compliance

Also has signal generators. Don't think it's shipping yet, but definitely has promise.

And that price tag has the most promise of all, If they launch with no problems, I'm definitely getting one of those.
