I saw a version of the sets at CES and thought that they were the best of show. Everyone else was trying to be blacker than black and just crushed the blacks. For example a black suit sure was black, but there was no texture. The result was cartoon like. The Sony could be black when needed, but all of the texture was still there. The Sony may not have been fully as dark as the OLED's (hard to tell, given the demo material and the rooms), but it didn't matter because there was such a rich gradient of colors and intensity. Very bright scenes, such as reflections on the ocean were so bright that they hurt, just like real reflections.

The XBR65X900c was $3899 when it came out. Today that exact same TV has a retail of $1499.95. It will come down for sure.
