Hi, everyone,
I've moved up from an MX-850 to an MX-990. The MX-850 had a hard button marked "FAV", the MX-990 doesn't. I realize I can put favorites on any page. But I'm wondering how others are implementing favorite channels—how to maneuver to a favorites page, how to return to where you were, etc. For example, if I'm watching cable tv, I would rather return to the cable tv page, rather than to the "main" page.
Right now, I have a "soft" button on the first page of every device that takes me to the favorites pages, but exiting favorites by hitting the "main" button takes me back to the main page, and I have to touch another button to return to the cable tv page.
Can anyone suggest a better approach to implementing favorite channels than I'm using?

Put favorites on another page of the device and use the scroll buttons under the screen. Hide pages that you dont need

I think a back/return/exit button on every favorites page is the most discoverable but takes up some real estate on your page.

If that version allows for press and hold, you could configure Exit as a press and hold to go back to the primary cable page as well.

Or you could remap PREV button to take you to previous page instead of default (previous channel) mapping.

Don't do favs.
Easiest way to keep from having problems when the channels get moved.
Ask the client what channel they watch most (news typically) and have the off macro take you to that channel so it's on their favorite news channel every time the system powers on.

I use the replaceable hard keys on the mx980. The left button i have named Main, and the right button i have named Favs. If i have watch and listen sources, I just create a watch and listen button on the main page. When in the tv activity, pressing the favs button takes you to the favorite pages. pressing it again takes you back to the tv activity page. If you are in any other activity, such as dvd, the favs button does nothing.

Favorite Channel buttons are like installing a future service call in the remote. :)

I like favorites, but I make very clear to customers that channels WILL change.

I've had three customers who wanted Favorites and one who was willing to pay for more than five minutes to talk about it and install them.
People either know which channels they want to watch; set up PROGRAMS in a DVR, meaning their target is the show and not the channel, so Favorite Channels are of no value; or want to look through the guide.
That one client has six pages of favorites, arranged per his choice. He uses them all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the OP is an end-user...he can do his own service calls on his own system every time the channel lineup changes ;)

MX990 1-Create a device called Favorites 2-Create a shortcut display button to the Favorites inside the Set top box device. There is a pretty multi-network icon for it 3-Both devices have the same IR database code 4-If GUIDE is selected inside the Favorites, create a jump back to the STB device where you have page up, page down display buttons created 5-DONE
