Hey Brent, Do you have any details on the progress of the next gen of HDBT that will support 18G? Will STP be needed, or will Cat6 work? Will it still use a single cable or need dual?
Here is what I know today: There have been two versions of the HDBaseT future demoed; Version #1: This version was shown at ISE last February and uses two Cat/x cables between the Tx and Rx units, it works by dividing the 18 Gbps signal into dual HDBaseT encoders, and then at the display side is received by (again) dual HDBaseT receivers and then into the display. While this was a working prototype there was a visible dividing line between the left and right side.
Version #2: This version uses compression to keep the bandwidth below 10 Gbps, again there are some issues mainly with HDR and (or) 4:4:4 color. When the signal is squashed down the artifacts become visible.
So, what would I do if this was my install.... 2 Cat/x and 2 Coax and the New Velox Fiber System that not only to 100 meters but works by fully supporting 18 Gbps and correctly dealing with the newest EDID problems.
