Looking for comments or feedback from those using OVRC enabled products and especially anyone that's made the move entirely to OVRC enabled networking, power, surveillance, etc.

The new Ethernet switches, surveillance and WattBox products all with native OVRC integration seem to make it a more compelling option.

What has me looking more into this is the recent announcement of "Employee Role Permissions" for the WattBox products.  I don't need to limit access for employees, but I do need the ability to give certain property managers the ability to reset devices without having visibility to my other clients homes.

I've been doing this with Panamax Bluebolt in the past, but looks like WattBox can do it now too.

If the stuff works, I can see the befits of expanding past the WattBox devices to also using their networking and surveillance gear.

There is actually a separate OvrC Home app that is designed to give end-users limited and guided control of their own equipment.

I just found out about this from tech support this morning.  It will be useful for the WattBox products, but would be interested to get some feedback on the other OvrC products too (router, switches, WAPs, NVR, Cameras, etc.).

We use the switches and surveillance. Works very well....obviously we are just now deploying the 110 level switches

Do you know if they have client based software that runs on Mac OS for the new NVRs?  I've never done Wirepath DVR/NVR in the past because they never had Mac OS support (just mobile iPhone/iPad).

Luma has no client software, browser interface only. Works on Safari with plug-in.

Use a Synology NAS for your NVR's. Much more scalable and affordable. Their app allows live viewing as well as recorded content viewing.

We just installed our first OVRC POE switch and Router on job. Ironically, we also installed 2 BlueBolt conditioners at the same job. This is also our first BlueBolt "tryout".

So far, so good with the OVRC stuff. The ability to easily reboot a borked touchpanel, camera, or Elan/C4 controller by cycling just that POE port will come in handy for sure. Early on, there had been issues with false disconnect notices from OVRC. I am sure it will not be 100% always, but it seems to be better as time goes on. Bug fixes, service improvements, etc. are always being worked on.

I have no DVR/NVR on OVRC so cannot comment on that part. A couple WattBox units out there. One seems as if the network has died. I have not visited the site, but I can no longer get into it, but it is able to be controlled locally I believe. Odd. Might just need a firmware update or something. It is an early model so is likely covered under the special replacement plan.

When I tested the OVrC app (and web login) with some of their WAPs recently, I found the updating very slow. 5-10 minutes sometimes before it would show clients connecting or disconnecting. Other features would work sometimes and not others.
So not real enthused with OVrC yet, seems more a gimmick than a real tool.

I completely disagree with the "gimmick" comment. Its stupid simple. I would like to see OvrC on EVERY product made.

Add any OvrC enabled device and it allows for pretty quick addition and configuration. Same with firmware updates, changed, configuration. All easy, convenient and intuitive. And its evolving and IMO will only get better and better.

The downside to most cloud based option is speed. Look at Unifi, it can take over ten minutes for devices to show/not show online. It would also depend if you are local or not. I prefer local and access the device locally for speed.

OvrC could rule the world.

I use OVRC on every install. Love the Wattbox and network gear. I even use the small power units with customers modems/routers for auto re-boot. Saves me major truck rolls. I have a lot of customers on fixed wireless internet connections (large homes on large lots with no cable service) and I get text alerts that a system has gone down.... I usually wait about 5 minutes and behold! the system has reset. When a customer has an Apple TV or roku lock up after firmware and that phone rings, i just log in, reset that "outlet" and bam, back up from the comfort of my chair. I haven't done any of their surveillance yet, but they are supposed to be expanding into other non-snap partners (URC is rumored...).
When on-site, I just whip out the iPhone, claim all units, provision them, and move on with the install.. There's even a way to remote into the actual device setup page (instead of the OVRC interface) for detailed configs.
So far, can't say enough good things about them.

OvrC as far as Wattbox is concerned is excellent. Highly recommended.

I do have some experience with Wattbox and it's been positive except for the ability to allow access for certain property managers which looks like it's now been addressed with Employee Role Permissions and the upcoming OvrC Home app.

Most of my questions are about how well the networking and surveillance work.  I understand the OvrC enabled networking and surveillance are fairly new which is why there probably isn't much posted about it yet.

I've been using MicroTik and Ubiquity for routers and mostly UniFi for WAPs for several years now.  Ubiquity has the cloud key now which really helps polish the wifi solution and are also rolling out cloud management for routers & switches.  I don't think the UniFi camera solutions are there yet (no outdoor dome camera) and Ubiquiti will never get into the power category so that has me looking to SnapAV/OvrC for more of a total integrated solution.

My go-to surveillance solution has been ICRT which I don't really have any complaints about, but moving to Wirepath to roll everything into OvrC control seems beneficial.

I love seeing the energy around this topic.

It is OvrC team’s mission to develop solutions that empower you to provide world-class services to your clients. To that end, we have enabled over 60 SnapAV products across Power, Networking, and Surveillance categories, and you can bet that we will continue to add more. We won’t stop there as we are actively working on ways for you to remotely manage non-SnapAV products and monitor the performance of the ISP. In addition, we are working on a way for you to give a customized app to your clients, tailored to their individual needs.

For an overview of OvrC and some of the future features, here is a recording of a webinar I did a couple months ago:

The OvrC team takes great pride in continuously improving the platform based on your feedback. Always feel free to provide any questions or feedback to [email protected] or directly to me at [email protected].

Just wait until they start charging for OVRC access..... Don't think they'll do it? They would be a fool not to turn on that switch.
