I am working on a project with a JVC Projector DLA-RS4910U. It says on the documentation it has 4K native inputs. When i connect this to a 4K direcTV receiver, will the DTV box ever allow it to go to 4K? right now, 4K is grayed out and not able to select.

I am using a 7.5m HDMI cable. I know that this length cable could be the issue, but besides the cable, if i had a 2m cable would it allow the DTV to select 4K? Which cable should I buy for this length? Would a SnapAV B6A-HD-7.5m or which Ethereal cable or a different cable altogether or am i asking too much?

Did I ever say I hate HDMI?

You do NOT select 4K as a resolution on the DirecTV C-61K 4K client. It automatically goes to 4K when you play that content. And then back to the set resolution(s) you have, when not playing 4K content. [unless they have had a firmware update in the last few months and changed this].

Warning: I've had a lot of issues trying to get those POS C-61K clients to work right. Biggest problem is massive lip-sync issues, resetting would correct it for a day or two. Other problems have been connect issues with server (Genie) and weird resolution issues when switching.

1. Don't know the projector, but
2. Not all inputs on video devices that say that they are 4k compatible pass 4k, depending on
3. manufacturers whims, date of production, firmware issues and updates
4. Ethereal cable would be my recommendation

No where on that website does it say HDCP 2.2. W/out that you're SOL on any 4K content that matters. Lots of TV's etc were sold '4K-ready' before HDCP 2.2 was finalized and compatible parts were available.

Cable length & quality definitely matters too. There are other recent threads about that.

weddellkw is right, I just looked and the HDMI chipset it is using is HDMI 1.4a
Good luck getting a current model 4K source to display on that projector (2014 model).

This is the exact reason I never sold the 1st generation of 4K displays to anyone. And the few people that insisted on getting them, I made sure they understood is was "likely" that they would never see 4K content on it.

this device will upscale to 4k if the ad copy featured is accurate. set your sources to output 1080p and you should be ok...

You will not get 4K from DirecTV or just about anything else into this projector because it's not hdcp 2.2. Hope this wasn't sold as a 4K display because it isn't. A key digital hdfix22 might make it work, but I can't vouch for it.

The JVC projectors are great. But claiming 4k is almost as big of a fraud as saying HDMI baluns will do 4k.

DirecTV facts to keep in mind:

A DirecTV C61 client is the only Directv device currently capable of outputting 4K.
It will only output 4K if it is connected to a HR54 Genie. If the C61 is operational (connected) through a HR44 or HR34, it will not be capable of producing 4K.

Even though the HR54 allows to C61 to produce 4K, a HR54 will not output 4K. 1080p max.

Hmmm... I had a client about 7-8 months ago. That DirecTV showed up with an HR44 and a C-61K client. We were getting 4K.
But like I said, it was buggy. Including the install I did a few months ago that was an HR54 with C-61K.

The customer supplied the projector. i supplied everything else. I needed verification that the projector will not support 4K and 4K will not be an option with this setup. with the JVC advertising 4K e-Shift3, it is confusing and misleading. this 4K crap is going to drive everyone insane. can't wait for more 4K projects!

YES!
I totally forgot HDFury has new products to fix these things. A little pricey but HDFury has always worked solid when I've used them.
