So we installed a dual HDMI zone Sony receiver for a client. A week after we installed it, client wanted to upgrade everything to 4K. So we are dealing with multiple problems. 2 TV's - 1 4K and 1 1080P. 2 DTV boxes - 1 DVR so no 4K and 1 client giving us a 4K source. Has anyone tested 4K through a receivers "matrix"? Sony has one 4K output so I'm concerned about what happens when the 4K channel is selected and the other 1080P TV turns onto the same source. We will be likely testing onsite but I'm curious if anyone else has ran into this scenario?

Otherwise, we will just have to run 2 extenders to the one TV and essentially have a dedicated 4K extender for the DTV and another extender for the remaining video sources. HDMI sucks...

I would recommend reading the post " All UHD 4K Components HDCP 2.2 Compliant...still get an error message"

We installed a Sony rec last week using zone 2 HDMI out. Main tv was 1080p, the zone 2 tv was 720 or 1080 ( older). Whenever we turned on zone 2 it would lose pic on both tvs and lock up reciever . I have used the same setup with two 1080P tvs with no issues.
I think you will have issues
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

Emphasis on the luck part! Hey, at least this craziness we live in ensures job proofing in the future. We have become the automobile industry! Who the hell works on their car nowadays???

The most important thing about making working out of a van look professional is to make it completely impossible to see where you stash the mattress.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
