Some time back (before Zektor had a 64 out component video switch) we sold a Knox Chameleon 16x64 component video with audio matrix switch.

Its been a great piece for maybe 8 year but about a year ago we lost blue on 8 TVs and another 8 a few weeks ago. Fortunately, we have removed some displays in favor or larger over more at this location so it is ok for now. However, I went to call to have it serviced and was shocked to find it looks like they are out of business.

Any truth to this? I cant find anything.

Thanks.

Yeah, Ive seen some of that in my searching. I am guessing old pages that aren't updated. The links always go back to a MOOG surveillance page. My guess is the "pivoted" (thanks silicon valley) business strategies as HDMI took hold.

Now the question is, are they honoring and supporting the Knox stuff? One call went straight to voicemail during business hours.

That is a real bummer if Knox is out of business. We have an Irish pub in Washington DC that has a 16X16 component video switch. Loved that switch. It has separate audio video switching, serial control, and variable audio output levels

It has been in around 8 years and around two years ago we had a major problem.
We pulled the switch out and took it up to Knox. They were only 20 miles away. They repaired it while my tech waited and then we took it back and re-installed it.

Now I had better let my customer know that if the switch dies again then we will have major problems.
If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

I'm not sure what the actual story is on Knox, but I've heard various stories from multiple customers that amount to them not making that product anymore.

A lot of their former customers have switched to our Tahoe product:

Although the website has no picture of it, we added an optional 10.1" preview monitor, which is something that the Knox users liked about the Chameleon. The Tahoe can be configured up to 24x112 over Cat5/6 in a 6RU chassis.

I don't check this group on RC much anymore, but I'll try an monitor this thread, or just email us at sales at neothings dot com, or use the form on our site.
