I'm in a client's house trying to modify a client's MX980, which sends to an A/V system through an MRF 260 and to a cool little laser light show through a second MX980.

I seem to be able to open and close the CCP files okay, but SAVE takes maybe five minutes. I don't want to try to work with things as they are. It'll take too long.

I've opened a file, done nothing to it, and the software has asked if I want to make changes. I've opened a file and NOT had that question. I've modified a file and had it take maybe five minutes to save. A quick save has not happened.

When it's hung up, Task Manager tells me I'm waiting for Commercial CCP 3.6.0516.1. The file is an upload from the client's MX980, though the software works the same with older files.

Can anyone help? SAVE is now slower than a Pronto download!

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The only time I ever have extended save times is when I'm saving to a network location. Local saves are immediate.

Is it really necessary to post duplicate threads?

What make and model is the computer? 32 bit or 64 bit? On wifi or lan? SSD or no SSD? Gray or Silver? Plugged in or on battery? Screen at full brightness or half brightness? Speakers turned up? What floor are you on? A house or an apartment? Did you try at night or during the day? Before lunch or after lunch? Is the client over 6 feet tall? Has client been to church/temple lately? What pets are in the house? Do they have cable or satellite? Is this a coastal property or inland? Democratic house or Republican? Is the lawn more or less than 2.1 inches long? What color mailbox does the client have?

How can you expect us to help you without all the info?

I like how you think.

I've had occasional issues with the computer's USB port. Rebooting the computer and the remote has fixed this so far. I don't recall ever attempting to program without a wired connection. If there are wireless issues, I would not notice.

goldenz,
I posted in the URC forum and when I looked a minute ago there were 35 views. I posted here and there had been 75 views. I would bet that not many of those are duplicates.

Thanks for bringing this up. You have convinced me: YES, it is necessary to post in both forums. I was just trying to increase my chances of getting a helpful response but I didn't realize that given the choice of 35, 75, or 110, I should definitely choose 110. I'm now tempted to always post in more than one forum.

Right, Fins.
I wrote all that stuff down and then lost the text when I hit POST and the wifi here messed up. I quickly rewrote it and left out all that stuff by mistake.

ThinkPad T420. Windows 7 64 bit. Wifi. SSD (500 GB). Gray; I assume you mean my hair. Both. Screen at about 60%. Speakers off. Not on a floor; on the couch. House. During the day, since it hasn't been night since I've been here. Both before and after lunch. No. No (neither matches the religion). None. TWC for wifi and Dish for satellite. Inland, but there's a dry river nearby. Don't know political persuasion. Yes, the lawn is more or less 2.1 inches long. Didn't notice.

So your helpful response is what?

FWIW:

I've found that when I'm updating the programming on the MX980, it works best when I upload to my laptop to do changes then:

1. Disconnect the 980 from the laptop.
2. Set the 980 to it's default state.
3. Make my programming changes.
4. Connect the remote to laptop.
5. Download.

PIA but it seems to make the process a lot easier. Especially so if you have to use the standalone editor at any point.

TSS,

I do exactly that except for putting the remote in its default state. What is the default state? The smartass in me says the default state is in the box, empty and unprogrammed....

Ernie, my task manager says CCP editor (32-bit). Why would you be using the commercial version?

Correct.

For some reason the program will load much faster when the remote is empty rather than loading when it needs to overwrite anything existing.

I have seen the opposite be true. Fresh out of the box, if it is been on the shelf for a number of months, the initial firmware and database updates make it the slowest download of all.
