Pulling out two Vantage Axium 450 multi zone amplifiers and replacing them with a Niles SI-1650 and 8 Sonos Connects.

Some zones have sub zones with volume controls so I don't think the ConnectAmp has enough power and the client likes loud music.

I have always had good results with Niles amplifiers. Any others that I should be looking at?

Thoughts...

I've got 6 of them installed at 3 properties all with Sonos Connects with good results.  The web interface is handy to walk around with Wifi and adjust EQ & Levels.

High & low pass filters are nice if you're adding sub woofers to any of the zones and you can bridge channels for more power to sub.

Bus Matrix feature is slick and will allow you to combine any of the inputs to any of the outputs which will help with your sub zones (no "Y" cables needed).

Be aware that early models had an issue with the the High-Pass filter.  When you set a channel to high pass filter, it just didn't work (no output).

I was the unfortunate guy to figure this out...  It was a programming bug that slipped through QC and the first runs of amps all had the problem.  No way to upgrade firmware in the field so I had to wait about 8 months for them to correct the issue and then implement the fix in the next product run and then they sent replacement amps.

This was back in 2014 so all the amps in inventory now should be ok.

They are freaking heavy.
Parasound is my amp of choice.

Thanks SB!

Zohan, Parasound was my first choice too but their configuration won't work with what I need to do.

Just a quick correction... I was typing fast yesterday and not thinking.  It wasn't the high-pass filter that didn't work, it was the low-pass filter.

Overall a decent amp that sounds good and has some neat features that makes it useful.
