Why do you make it so hard to try and find something?
Try the search field with "Leviton jacks". "0 items found" Now try that with Amazon or Newegg.
Model your site like newegg and we would order more.

Capitol, it looks like the problem is that your search engine is not smart enough to recognize that "jack" should be found under "Leviton jack" by first parsing for "Leviton" and then parsing for "jack" within those responses. The simple solution might be to add the word "Leviton" to the actual description of the product. You and I can tell it's a Leviton product when we are looking at the description, because you show the Leviton logo. But your search engine does not see that image; it's looking for WORDS. Put the word LEVITON in the jack description, problem fixed (I think). And this must apply to all products. Meanwhile... There's no search engine on the home page. I should be able to search and find product without logging in. Capitol makes people create an online account and log in so they can get into the site far enough to see if they want to create an online account and log in. This is typical of a site which is designed with the sales organization's goals and needs in mind, instead of the customer's goals and needs. For instance, no matter where I am on remotecentral, the browser tab says "RC." I always know at a glance which tab is the RC tab. RC is built for you and me to use it. On the Capitol site, if I choose to look at info about a manufacturer, the tab no longer says Capitol, it says the name of the manufacturer. If I go to another tab, I don't see "Capitol" anywhere any more. I can't imagine who this is good for!

It's shocking to me how "technology" and "technology sales" companies websites are so gawd awful bad...They're jokingly bad. We could make a list a mile long, starting in alphabetical order with ADI. They think they're getting beat by [email protected]* because of the pricing...It's because of the ease of ordering on THE WEBSITE. You can go to any number of manufacturers and it looks like their website was the second one ever made. For the record, most of you guys aren't any better. I see plenty of you are still having sales that end in 2014, or promoting products that have been discontinued. If we're saying this about organizations that we know do millions of $ in sales per year, what are your visitors saying about you? That being said, I'm here to help. Stay tuned.

They're a dealer site. An easy way to keep the Capitol page is to find the item or link you want to see- right click and select 'Open link in new tab'. It makes comparing different items much easier because you're not trying to toggle between two consecutive pages.

Ever try searching 'jack, Leviton'? Thanks for asking. I tried it. ZERO RESPONSES. Ever try responding to particular issues in a post without quoting the entire friggin' post? I'm just sayin.' Anyway, let's say Capitol's search would work with "jack, Leviton." What the hell other site on the internet doesn't respond to simple descriptions in English-type construction? I'm reminded of a package I once saw labeled "glasses, sun, aviator, yellow." I guess the military needs to do things like that. I mean "that, needs, the military, to do." Why would they need to allow searching without logging in? They're a dealer site. I already told you why. To check out what product they have so you can make a decision as to whether you want to submit private information on one more damn website. Call it a privacy concern. Call it a pain in the ass to have to do. Whatever. An easy way to keep the Capitol page is to find the item or link you want to see- right click and select 'Open link in new tab'. It makes comparing different items much easier because you're not trying to toggle between two consecutive pages. Well, that's irrelevant to the discussion since the issue was a)getting the search engine to respond to what is a reasonable catalog-type description of an item, and b) from me, just getting into the site. It's pretty amusing that you challenged me to try a search phrase that didn't work. Didn't you check it yourself? That way lies knowledge!

It's pretty amusing that you challenged me to try a search phrase that didn't work. Didn't you check it yourself? That way lies knowledge! I would think that by now, you would have an idea of the price for Leviton jacks, but you didn't specify which type, so maybe that has something to do with your problem. Or, maybe someone pissed in your Wheaties- hard to tell. You rag on people so often for things that aren't their fault that it's like reading random letters and words. You could just call Capitol, too. Or, rather than bitch and moan online, e-mail the company, get a grip- your choice. For someone who posts about simple problems with computers and operating systems, you sure seem to think you know a lot about search engines.

I started this as I have told them about the site at trade shows, and to my rep. Nothing has changed. I don't use facebook, so I am calling them out here for others to chime in too. The company and people are great, but the website sucks donkey ballz.

I would think that by now, you would have an idea of the price for Leviton jacks, but you didn't specify which type, so maybe that has something to do with your problem. Search engine instructions often state something like "if you get no responses, try using fewer words in your description." That is, if it won't find "Leviton jacks," then it won't find "Leviton snap in RCA jacks." Following that advice, if you search their site for "jacks," there is only one result. The search engine isn't even smart enough to look up "jack" (48 results) if you type in the plural. So your advice is backwards, and using the normal advice doesn't even work. Plus, a major benefit of a good website is that you can locate this information when you're cooped up grinding out a proposal at 10 PM on any random day. The fact that I have "an idea" how much something costs doesn't mean that I can quote a price on it. On June 3, 2016 at 09:31, GotGame said...

And it wasn't even me. You were looking for keystone inserts with RCA jacks? Are you changing distributors, or is this just an exercise in frustration?

I don't see the issue. Click on 'Manufacturer Search', then choose the MFG you want. Then click on the the category for that MFG if you want a smaller sample size beyond that.
If you're looking for what I would call Keystones, you will notice that Capitol has them in their system as 'snap in' parts. Searching for 'snap' by itself results in 106 results, 103 being Leviton. Don't forget, one can add any part to their 'favorites' list as well.
