This may be a golden unicorn product.

A good client is paying us to do some work in her mom's new place. There is a gate to their courtyard leading to the front door. The doorbell is located at the gate. They would like some kind of video intercom doorbell unit that only transmits (wirelessly) to an interior station, and can be powered by existing standard doorbell wire, and has a latch relay to operate a strike to be installed on gate. If there has to be any compromise, it would be video. Audio only intercom would suffice.

Any such beast or do I need to get my creative retro hat on and try fishing some wire? :)

Going for something with a dedicated indoor display/control. I will discuss using smartphone instead though.

Can use smartphone or Ipad as long as the app is installed.

I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

You could use the existing doorbell wiring with 2N Helios, their 2-wire adapter, and indoor touch hardwired/wifi station(s).

The Force probably makes the most sense for a gate.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far Doorbird and a dedicated iPad on a wall mount charger is probably the leading solution for the least amount of effort and cost.

Been a bit since we've done one, but we have installed several of these.

It is a all in one system, people really like it. 2-way communication and a video feed when a power supply is connected. Inexpensive kit. Tri-Ed carried it last time I needed one.

So the doorbird has a relay connection on it? Does it actually show the option in the app to open a gate?

While doorbird integrates unto c4, I'd hardly say that it was good.
We have a couple in the office for testing and have not been impressed.

We watched it crash while connected to ruckus wireless

I think the app works well. Just when connected to both the app and a C4 a ts it was sketchy

What issues have you seen between db and c4? I was having issues with a infinity edge portable connecting to the db for intercom. It would connect and show the camera, then immediately would close the session. I emailed the support team and they had to get doorbird to update my unit to a different firmware. Since then, I've had zero issues with it connecting. I'm also using a hardwire Cat6 cable and not the wifi.
