I have an HOA, although it is pretty much a joke. I do what I want. I pay them sometimes. My neighbor is the president. He made me tamales and let me store ice cream in his freezer when ours broke. I think we are good. Most of the houses and all the 4 plexes in my hood are rentals, so no one really gives a ass's rat. :)

But I agree goldenz. My next home will be outside of any neighborhood, let alone any kind of HOA. Preferably mileS to the next house.

That's what I want. We found a couple houses that would actually rival some of my clients, but the wife wanted a neighborhood and they were secluded. :-(

Where I am, most property is rural and unrestricted. Obviously in town (about 15 minute drive) there is some zoning, but even that is light compared to some towns. And some developments are restricted and gated. These are where most of our clients have homes. The down side of most property being unrestricted is that your neighbor can do pretty much whatever they want. Also, lots of mobile homes around because of the high cost of housing due to the second home market. But the up side is I can open the back door and take a piss, or pop off a few rounds. Occasionally though we get someone that moves here and tries to get county wide zoning passed so they can control what their neighbor's can and can't do on their property. These attempts usually get shut down pretty quickly.

PA townships are the strangest little beasts that I have ever encountered. I live in MD and for most instances we have county government with a relatively few "city" municipalities that invoke their own laws.

PA has new laws every 2 miles....they have dinky township 2-4 man police forces every 2 miles....just weird.

I like the handicap lift idea. Might be your best way out. Anyone in your family handicap?
Even mentally?
You can make it so the lift is a benefit to get items up from the side door.

And what are you going to do with the trailer? Mine did not last long.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I had this problem here. Due to the logos the van had to be garaged. I bought a covered car port from Costco and recovered it with 6 different colored worn out tarps. Had that in my yard for about 6 weeks before they said I could keep the van in my driveway if I removed the carport. Had a buddy do the same thing with his business sign they wouldn't let him replace. works every time.
