I know it's bad grammar to say going dead, but the same customer has had a BP 530, and now a BP 550 go lights out. Are any of you seeing failures in these small players? One had a power cord, and the other uses a wall wart.

Tom, Failures of two separate models points to randomness. Failures of two separate means of powering the units points to randomness.
However, failure of two electrical items in the same house might mean there's a voltage level or a voltage spike problem. And maybe LG's power specs aren't as robust as other brands, robust enough to withstand a problem at your client's place. IIRC, you're an electrician and can totally troubleshoot that idea.

Non electrician. I understand the possibilities.
Hoping for a shout from people who sell more LG.

Sorry. I remembered wrong. Hope it wasn't an insult!

LG on most jobs for us the past 5 or 6 generations now.
I had one 550 'possibly' go bad, it was at a project 2 hours away and was the first one we installed (and my installer had opened it up to determine IR placement). We swapped it after it had to be power cycled twice in a matter of weeks.
I've had many others that have occasionally locked up (usually after firmware updates) and needed to be power cycled, however of the hundreds installed I can't think of any others we've had to replace due to general failure. Had a couple we've upgraded for features/apps but that's about it.

I had one 530 DOA. Other than that, LG has been very reliable. But OTOH, it's a 99 Blu Ray.
