I just ordered two from labor saving devices. They are not in the catalog but they have a few left. They are black and have a cap that screws on. We strap them up to the roof of our vans.

You all keep glow rods? The way my boss leaves them in walls and attics, I thought they were supposed to be disposable.

From the moment I found my first pair of unusual pliers in an attic, I've wondered what the attic gods would deliver to me on any particular day. Then I discovered that the attic gods give, but the attic gods take away, as well. I've left a few things behind!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Did a commercial job years ago where I found 10 glow rods with the hook piece on the end.

Don't know how long they had been up there, but they were covered in dust, and the biz owner said no one had worked there before me, so they became mine...

If are interested in something soft sided take a look at some of the level cases contractors use. They would be great for bringing inside the job and a lot of them have additional pockets for extra storage. They are like an extra large soft gun case.

If you have a ladder rack...Store them on the roof with your misc PVC pipe and long bits:

Make your own size with 6" PVC from your local home center

Or get the step up version that won't turn yellow from sunlight

I have that one, got it from LSD. It works but even if you strap the tube to something solid the drill bits clank around inside. Thinking of switching to a soft sided case like this [Link: lsdinc.com] but it is low on the priority list. The idea of the fishing case is great.
+1 to what Mac said about needing new tool bag ideas.

The problem with fish rod cases is most are 4 or 5ft max length, If you use 6ft foot rods there may be an issue with them fitting into the case properly.

So, you used a copper cap that probably cost 3x as much as a PVC cap?

There's some unclear thinking going on here.

Yes, for the one tube that I'm going to use day in and day out, I have a cap that won't break if I happen to smack the end of the tube on the ground or somewhere in the van. And yes, it costs three times the price of the PVC cap. Now, if I were going to make ten or more of these, I might start to be concerned about the price of that item.

Another example of unclear thinking was in another thread, where it was suggested that nitrogen should be used in everybody's tires because a billion dollar racing industry* uses it. In that industry, a tenth of a hundredth of a percent improvement might mean the difference between winning and losing. If it were possible to correlate percent improvement with percent of that billion, well, a tenth of a hundredth of a percent of a billion is $10,000, so if those things are comparable, then sure, there's a budget for nitrogen! And every racer should use it.

That's the one, ericspencer, thank you so much!

Brad, thanks for finding the deal of the day! I will order that guy shortly.

Could I piece something together, sure. Could I use the giant piece on the top of the van, sure. The sentimental value on the Bazuka case though is priceless!
